And that's a wrap on the inaugural Coastal Five!
OMG we could not have asked for a better group of runners, volunteers, supporters and general making it happen people. We wanted the Coastal Five to be about the community that we live in and to showcase the Taranaki region and with the help of an incredible group of people we've made that happen.
First off, thank you to our runners and walkers. You guys made the event what it was and the camaraderie we experienced between the individual 42km athletes as the event progressed was something we have never seen at any running event we have been to. You guys were amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
All our volunteers. It was you that showed why Taranaki is a wonderful community. We heard many times throughout the event how friendly the volunteers were and it was you guys that created the atmosphere and welcoming vibe of the whole event. Special mention to our uber-volunteers Michelle, Brooke and our 'tail-end charlie' Kalem. I don't know how you kept up the energy all weekend but we are forever grateful.
Our tireless workers Ben, Amit and Julie. Two very early starts for you guys and a few mad rush moments but an amazing end result which would not have happened without the three of you. I don't think I've ever met three people so calm under pressure!
More FM Taranaki 93.2 you guys rock! Every event had that finishing touch thanks to your high energy, work on the mic and making sure all our runners were refueled for their next event. Love ya!
Nick and Erin at Shoe Clinic your support since the very early days of the event has been invaluable and we couldn't ask for better partners in the Devon Mile.
Alex at Habit Health thank you for your tireless energy over the weekend as you endlessly helped the runners recover and get ready for their next event. You are an amazing physio and we are lucky to have you in Taranaki.
There are so many people we need to thank and who we couldn't have managed this event without. We look forward to catching up with you all over the coming days. Thank you to all our crew at World Multisport, Venture Taranaki, Bev Ellice at helloworld Travel Strandon New Plymouth, Daryn at Max Pennington's AutoCity, New Plymouth District Council, Sport Taranaki, Pukeiti, marketing genius Ellen Varoy, Rose and Hailey at The Creatives, Tailwind Nutrition, Bengy ONETIME.nz , Selwyn at Events Taranaki, the Taranaki Triathlon Club and the Tri Taranaki Festival.
