Coastal Five

5 events | 2 Days | 42.2 km

15/16 November 2025, Taranaki.

How It Works

step 1: Enter the arena

Roll solo or rally your crew—up to 5 mates can make a team. You don’t have to be fast, just mildly obsessed with fun and finish lines.

👉 Think you’re the main character? Go it alone. Got a gang of sweaty legends? Team it up.

step 2: choose your challenge

Run one race or run all five to complete the full 42.2K.
It’s like a marathon... but way more scenic, way more fun, and split across two days of pure awesomeness.

👉 Pick your battles: Coastal views? Forest trails? Brutal climbs? Or do the lot and claim Coastal Five LEGEND status.

step 3: Get ready to race

We welcome every runner, walker, stroller-pusher, and shuffle-jogger.
No egos. Just endorphins.

👉 You don’t need to be fast. You just need to start.

Choose Your Own Adventure - Lake Mangamahoe 4.5 km

The Lake Mangamahoe 4.5km cross country is the third event of the Coastal Five.

The 2025 event will offer two options. The first is the same course as 2023 and 2024 and an undulating mixture of wide forest and single-track trails. This course includes 2 swing bridge crossings, stairs and uneven terrain.

The second option travels along the gravel road before heading into wide forest trails, across the dam wall and back along Lake Mangamahoe Road. This course is designed for:

  • those runners/walkers completing all five events that are uncomfortable on technical trails.
  • Runners/walkers that expect to take over an hour to complete the course - this option is the same distance but faster due to the terrain and elevation.
  • Anyone wanting to avoid stairs and/or swing bridges.

Please note if you are racing this event and want to achieve a placing in the 4.5km or the overall 42.2km then you need to complete option 1.
