ABOUT THE FULL COASTAL

The Full Coastal combines all five Coastal Five events across two days, creating a unique multi-event running challenge totaling 42.2km.

Rather than a traditional marathon, participants experience a mix of road running, park trails, cross country, climbing, and short-distance racing.

Each event is timed individually, with overall standings determined through the Coastal Five points competition.

The format appeals to both competitive athletes chasing points placings and participants looking to complete the full weekend challenge at their own pace.

HOW THE WEEKEND WORKS

1. Complete all five events

All five races are included in your entry and take place across Saturday and Sunday.

2. Each race is timed individually

Participants receive official timing results for every event.

3. Points determine overall and age group placings

Each race contributes equal points toward the overall Coastal Five standings.

4. Finish all five to complete the 42.2km challenge

Participants who complete all five events officially finish the Full Coastal.

THE POINTS COMPETITION

Overall standings are based on points earned across all five events.

Each race carries equal value toward the overall and age group standings.

Points are awarded to the top 20 finishers in each race.

Points decrease from 20 points for 1st place through to 1 point for 20th.

The highest total points score across the weekend determines the overall winners.

FULL COASTAL FAQ

Do I have to run all five events?

Will I receive a medal?

All participants who complete the full Coastal Five weekend will receive an official Coastal Five finisher medal.

The medal is awarded after completing all five events across the weekend, finishing with the Devon Mile on Sunday.

Since the event began, returning participants have also been recognised with special multi-year finisher medals, celebrating runners and walkers who continue to take on the Coastal Five challenge year after year.

In 2026, we celebrate the sixth year of the event — including participants who have completed every Coastal Five since the beginning.

Can I walk the events?

How do the points work for placings?

What happens if I miss a race?

Life happens! If you miss one, you can still run the rest—but you’ll be out of the running for the overall Coastal Five marathon medal and points standings.

If you entered all five but only complete some, don’t stress—you can still get medals for the individual races you finished. Just get in touch with us after the event and we’ll make sure your hard-earned bling finds its way to you.

Is there a training programme for the Coastal Five?

Yes! Because the Coastal Five is unlike any other running event, we've created the Official Coastal Five Training Guide.

The guide includes a 16-week training programme designed specifically for participants taking on all five Coastal Five events. With Walker, Beginner and Experienced pathways, plus strength, recovery, nutrition and event-specific tips, it's designed to help you prepare for the unique challenge of completing all five events over one weekend.

The training programme officially starts on Monday 27 July.

Once you've entered all five Coastal Five events, you'll automatically receive an email with your Official Coastal Five Training Guide, so you can get started straight away.
