why the 10km should be on your bucket list

✅ Challenge accepted – This isn’t your average Sunday jog. With rolling hills and winding roads, it’s the perfect test for anyone who loves a bit of sweat with their scenery.
✅ Scenery without the mud – While you’re running past the lush Pukeiti Gardens (not through them!), you’ll still get all the epic vibes – native bush, fresh air, and stunning views, all from the smooth curves of Carrington Road.
✅ Start day two with a bang – It’s the first race of Sunday and the fourth in the Coastal Five challenge. Come in fresh, or a little “well-cooked” from Saturday – either way, this climb sets the tone.
✅ Finish line feels – End at the breathtaking Pukeiti Visitor Centre where friends, family, and coffee await. Explore the gardens after you’ve caught your breath – you’ve earned it.
Course details
If you're chasing a personal best… you might want to sit this one out. The Habit Health Pukeiti Climb 10km is no flat-out dash – it’s a scenic, sweat-filled rollercoaster that’s unlike any other 10km in Aotearoa.
Starting at the stunning Pukeiti Botanical Gardens, the course takes you on a 10km journey along the undulating beauty of Carrington Road. You'll run up, down, around bends, across bridges, and through the kind of lush Taranaki bush that’ll have you questioning if you’re still in a race or just lost in a postcard.
Take a moment (if your lungs allow) to soak in the views – on a clear day, you’ll even spot the coastline as you climb your way back to the gardens.
And the finish? Absolute magic. Pukeiti itself is worth the journey – a perfect spot to gather your crew, celebrate the climb, and explore the gardens and trails once you’ve crossed the line.
This one’s gritty, gorgeous, and guaranteed to leave you breathless in all the right ways.
Let’s climb.
