Lake Mangamahoe course

The cross country starts with a short uphill before a 2km downhill section to get your legs moving - especially if you've raced the half marathon in the morning!

As you make your way down the slopes you'll be surrounded by radiata pine trees which are used for the local logging operations - visible in the early stages of the run.

Once through the pine trees the 4.5km circuit takes you close to the lake edge including some steep undulating sections with some potential for muddy areas if we've had some rain.

Pockets of native bush provide a cooling atmosphere and a home to many birds. Keep an eye out for cheeky fantails.

Keep following the track as it takes you through a small collection of redwood trees and out by the dam wall to the finish line.
