Puke Ariki Landing is a race location only (Half Marathon & Mile).
start times and locations
coastal half marathon
The race kicks off at 6:15am from the iconic Wind Wand on New Plymouth’s Coastal Walkway. From there, you’ll head west along St Aubyn Street, looping out toward Ngāmotu Beach before returning along the coast. The finish line awaits at Puke Ariki Landing—right in the heart of the city, where the celebration begins!
Pukekura Park 5km
For 2026 the 5km is a single lap course with the start/finish at TSB Stadium.
Start Time:
Wave 1 – Sub‑30 minute runners: 12:30 PM
Wave 2 – 30+ minute runners & walkers: 12:50 PM
Lake Mangamahoe 4.5km
The cross country event starts at the gates at the Plantation Road entrance. The finish line is at the cul-de-sac end of Plantation Road. Start time is 5:00pm.
PUKEITI 10km climb
The start and finish of the Pukeiti 10km Climb is in the same point in front of the entrance to Pukeiti. Start time is 7:00am.
devon mile
The Devon Mile starts at Puke Ariki Landing in the CBD.
The mile is split into three waves so everyone gets their moment to shine:

TSB Stadium from 12pm to 7pm on Friday 13th November.
Registration includes:
- Race bib pick-up including timing chip
- Pick-up of pre-purchased merchandise
- Option to purchase Coastal Five running tees and singlets, collapsible cups.
race weekend
Registration will be open at the race start for a short period before each event for any timing chip and race bib collection.

Saturday 5:30-6:15 am - Pukekura Park 5km
Saturday 12:00-12:30pm - Lake Mangamahoe 4.5km
Saturday 4:30pm-5:00pm - Pukeiti 10km
Sunday 6:30am-7:00am - Devon Mile

aid stations
coastal half marathon
All aid stations will have Tailwind electrolyte drink and water. The aid stations are cupless so you will need to run with either a collapsible cup, hydration pack or water bottle.
- Breakwater 4 km
On the left next to the public toilets - East End Reserve 8/19.5 km
At the East End Reserve; accessed in both directions. - Peringa Park 12km
On the side of the road as participants come up from lake Rotomanu. - Te Henui Walkway 16km
After participants come under the bridge after turning onto the walkway from Cumberland Street.
In addition to the aid stations at Breakwater and East End there are public toilet facilities at East End and Fitzroy SLSC, next to Waiwakaiho River and a portaloo at Riversdale Drive.
PUKEITI 10km climb
All aid stations will have Tailwind electrolyte drink and water. The aid stations are cupless so you will need to run with either a collapsible cup, hydration pack or water bottle.
- Plymouth Road turnaround
At the 5km turnaround point by Plymouth Road.

- Coastal Half Marathon
We’re working with local partners to provide convenient parking options for participants and supporters.
Details (including locations, times, and any codes) will be confirmed closer to race day.
- Pukekura Park 5km
Parking is available at TSB Stadium. - Lake Mangamahoe 4.5km
Event buses are included in your entry fee and are the primary transport option for this race.
General parking at Lake Mangamahoe will be closed to participants and supporters. A limited number of paid parking spaces may be available for purchase, however spaces will be restricted and sold on a first-come basis.
We strongly encourage all participants to use the event buses to help reduce congestion and protect the venue environment.
- Pukeiti 10km
Event buses are included in your entry fee and are the primary transport option for this race.
General parking at Pukeiti will be closed to participants and supporters. A limited number of paid parking spaces may be available for purchase, however availability will be restricted and these will sell on a first-come basis.
Participants are strongly encouraged to use the event buses to ensure smooth and efficient access to the venue.
- Devon Mile
Parking in Centre City carpark or street parking.
bus tickets
All participants will have access to event buses included in their entry fee. These buses are the primary transport option for race day and are designed to ensure efficient movement and reduced traffic at venues.
A limited number of paid car parks may be available, however availability will be restricted and these will sell on a first-come basis. Using the event buses is strongly recommended.
Buses will depart and return from TSB Stadium.

bag drops
A bag drop tent will be provided at every start/finish line for you to store your belongings. Bags will be labelled with your race number and you will need your bib to collect your bag.
payment facilities
Cash and eftpos facilities are available at the registration and help desk for payment of late registrations, bus tickets and merchandise sales.
zero waste event
Coastal Five is committed to reducing waste across the event.
Hydration options for 2026 are currently being finalised and may include reusable cup systems and/or requirements for runners to carry their own cup or hydration.
Final details will be confirmed closer to race day.
pace runners
We’re taking expressions of interest for pace runners for the 2026 Half Marathon.
If you’re keen to help others achieve their goals and run at a consistent pace, we’d love to hear from you.
timing and race results
Electronic timing is provided with the timing mats at the start and end of each event.
The half marathon will also have a timing mat at the halfway split.
road closures
Road closures are in place for the Pukeiti 10km and Devon Mile events. For the 10km event Carrington Road will be closed from the Plymouth Road intersection to Pukeiti from 6:45am until the last entrant finishes at approximately 9:00am. If you wish to leave Pukeiti before the road is open please do so via the alternative route through Pitone.
No road closure can be guaranteed so please treat all roads as if they were open and be aware of your surroundings.
race day check
- Your race number (and pins to attach it)
- Your bus stickers attached if you have booked on the event bus shuttle services
- Collapsible cup or hydration system if you want to use the water stations on course
- Weather appropriate clothing, plus sunscreen and cap
Please pin your race number to the front of your t-shirt or running vest and make sure it is clearly visible.
You must not use someone else’s number, nor let someone else use yours. Marshals will remove you from the race before you cross the finish line.
Your race number identifies you in case of an emergency. You must wear your race number to be classified as a starter and a finisher of the race and have your time recorded.
Please dispose of your bib after your race (or final race for Individual 42.2km athletes) in the bin at the finish line so we can recycle appropriately.
